Optimo DJs will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a festival on 6th August, the first dance event to take place in The Galvanizers Yard, a new event space by SWG3 in Finneston. The event is part of an extensive international touring schedule for the duo taking them to over 25 destinations, including venues in France, Beijing, Germany, Croatia and Lisbon.
Optimo founded their night at the Sub Club in 1997 – which ran every Sunday for 14 years. Twitch and Wilkes are one of Glasgow’s most successful clubbing duos, with a genuinely global reputation having taken their sound to 36 countries in the course of many years of touring.
The 20th Anniversary celebrations will focus on a Glasgow journey that begins and ends in their home city, with the rounding off of Optimo 20 2017 at their NYE celebrations at The Art School, The Glasgow School of Arts Student Association.
Optimo told Glasgowist:-
“2017 marks the 20th anniversary of Optimo (Espacio). We could never have imagined that what started out as a small gathering of like minded freaks on Sunday nights at The Sub Club back in 1997 would flourish and endure two decades later.”
“We felt this was something that deserved celebrating so to mark this event we have decided to put on a one day festival / party in conjunction with our friends at SWG3.”
“We will be the first music event to take over the Galvanizer’s Yard next door to the SWG3 complex, as well as using parts of the building to present three stages that we feel represents the music and ethos Optimo has loved and championed over the years.”
