Get ready to party on the cobbles of Ashton Lane, Ruthven Lane, Cresswell Lane and Vinicombe Street this weekend as the Sunday Lane Party with Auchentoshan returns to mark the start of the West End Festival.
From 12pm onwards, the Lanes will be buzzing with loads of pop up bars and outdoor BBQs from Brel, The Beer Kitchen, Grosvenor Café, Hanoi Bike Shop, Ubiquitious Chip, Café Andaluz, Hillhead Book Club, Vodka Wodka and Jinty McGinty’s (who’ve teamed up to put on the event) plus the carnival sounds of samba, brass and dhol bands.
Favourites from last year – Brass Aye and the Electricat Samba Dancers are back again plus some new bands fresh for this year – MacUmba – an eight piece bagpipe and Brazilian Samba percussion band, Beat That – one of Scotland’s longest running samba bands and Mugen Taiko Dojo who’ll be putting on a colourful and exciting display of choreographed Taiko drumming.
Look out for stages in Ashton Lane and Vinicombe Street plus roaming pop up performances in Ruthven and Cresswell Lane.
Later in the afternoon, Mic Edgar’s Folk n Blues band will be rocking the stage in Ashton Lane as the party hits full swing. There’s loads to entertain the wee ones too with balloon artists, face painters, glitter tattoo artists and arts and crafts.
