UPDATE: Prince’s European shows have been cancelled.
Prince is heading back to Glasgow. The surprise announcement was made to journalist during a show at Paisley Park studios in Minnesota.
The diminutive star has been in a bit of a purple patch for live performances, playing electrifying shows at short notice across the world and returning to big production arena gigs.
The new tour promises something different again. The Prince Spotlight: Piano and A Microphone tour will include four UK shows with dates in Glasgow, Liverpool, Birmingham, and London.
It will, as the title suggests, be a solo tour with just piano and microphones as accompaniment. It would be the first time Prince has toured like this in 37 years.
The opening show is expected to be in Vienna on 21st November.
Speaking to reporters, Prince said
“Why do this now? For several reasons.
“For starters it is a challenge. I rarely get bad reviews because this is something that’s been perfected for over 30 years.
“You have to try new things. With the piano it is more naked, more pure. You can see exactly what you get.”
