Real Food, Real Folk invites you to get social with their sparkling Christmas Raffle

8th December 2016 by Jack Dempsey

After the success of the Let’s Eat Glasgow! food festival this summer, the eight restaurants behind the Real Food, Real Folk cooperative have come up with a cracker of an early Christmas present for eight lucky folk.

The not for profit group, which includes Guy’s Restaurant, Mother India, Crabshakk, Stravaigin, Ubiquitous Chip, Ox and Finch, The Gannet and Cail Bruich, has opened an online Christmas raffle today with prizes to raise funds for social enterprises tackling food inequality across Glasgow.

People buying one or more £5 raffle tickets through the Let’s Eat Glasgow Facebook page or here will be in with a chance of scooping one of eight fabulous dining experiences:

A Pair of Tickets to Bring in the Bells at the Ubiquitous Chip with a six course meal, live jazz band, tickets to the Ashton Lane Hogmanay Street Party and a welcome glass of fizz and canapés at the table (value: £240)

A Tasting Menu for Two at Cail Bruich with matching wines (value: £180)

A Meal for Two with a bottle of house wine at Guy’s Restaurant, Mother India, Crabshakk, Stravaigin, Ox and Finch or The Gannet

The £5 raffle tickets can be purchased from today until 23.59 precisely on Sunday 18th December.

The draw will be made on Tuesday 20th December.

Announcing the Christmas Raffle, Colin Clydesdale, Chair of Real Food, Real Folk, said:

“Eggnog and mulled wine to gingerbread, mince pies and Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, food and drink is never far from our thoughts at this time of year.

“It’s also a time when people want to help others less fortunate.

“So, we’ve come up with a sparkling Christmas Raffle giving folk the chance to donate £5 or more towards social enterprises tackling food inequality in the city whilst being in with a chance of enjoying one of eight sensational meals for two on offer.”

Real Food, Real Food works throughout the year to support local food-based social enterprises in the city.

Social enterprises benefiting from taking part in Let’s Eat Glasgow! in 2015 and 2016 have included Moogety Grub Hub, Shettleston Community Growing Project, The East Ate, Urban Edge, The Milk Café, Unity Enterprise’s Spoon Café, Woodlands Community Kitchen, Freedom Bakery and Slow Food Glasgow and Slow Food Ayrshire.

Over the past year, Real Food, Real Folk has also, for example, been working with Urban Edge which is developing a community growing and recreational hub at Daldowie in the East End. The co-operative has also helped The East Ate grow produce at Daldowie and run a series of ‘pay what you feel’ dinners in Bridgeton. Bringing everything full circle, Cail Bruich now has The East Ate’s newly launched Bottle of Ginger on the menu.
