Super Market Events Launch Immersive Virtual Market Experience

Scottish market events company is leading the way in marketplace e-commerce with the launch of an innovative new online shopping experience to support independent brands this Christmas.

Super Market Events, who have been running creative market events across Glasgow since 2017, saw their bustling and successful business grind to a sudden halt earlier this year.

Lockdown and further Covid-19 restrictions have made it impossible for them to operate in their usual live events format. Having a huge knock on effect for both themselves and the hundreds of independent traders that their events support each month. 

With Christmas fast approaching, Super Market Events founder Kelly Conway wanted to find a way of bringing their much loved market experience to people virtually and embrace a ‘Digital Christmas’.  

Discovering a technology that has traditionally been used for virtual art gallery shows in the past. Conway was inspired and saw an opportunity to create a fully immersive virtual shopping experience unlike any other, where visitors can actually ‘walk’ the marketplace. Allowing her to authentically bring the Super Market Events market experience online without losing it’s trademark buzz and community spirit. The creation of ‘Super Market Virtual’ will also give a vital lifeline to independents trading in a post pandemic world.

Supermarket Virtual will launch with a ‘Festive Edition’ Christmas market running from Friday 20th November – Sunday 13th December with early bird preview tickets on sale now. Entry to the virtual market place will be free to all from Sunday 21st November.

Shoppers will have the opportunity to ‘Walk around’ and browse the individual stalls of over 150 independent Scottish brands across 10 categories. Each stall will have a personal voice message from the seller telling shoppers a bit about themselves and their brand – really bringing the marketplace to life and giving visitors a genuine ‘meet the maker’ experience.

You then simply click into your chosen stalls and get shopping. All purchases will be added to a collective shopping basket and shoppers will purchase with one simple and convenient transaction – letting Super Market Virtual do all the hard work for you.

Visitors will also have the chance to take part in virtual workshops, watch exclusive panel talks with vendors and listen to specially curated Super Market Virtual Spotify playlist while they shop. There will be something for all tastes and ages. Making it a fully immersive, and engaging experience that all the family can enjoy from the comfort of the sofa.
