Emering Scottish band Danko’s music is rooted in Americana. They showcased their soaring radio-friendly melodies at Hidden Lane Brewery in Finnieston to introduce new single, Gecko.
Frontman Lewis said: “Lyrically and instrumentally Danko have moved forward even from debut releases Rattlesnake and Be Fooled. Gecko is definitely one of our more mainstream offerings from this collection of songs so we’re hoping it goes down a treat.
“Gecko was born out of the main piano/guitar riff, we wrote a song based on that then got the final structure in place. It’s a short, in your face, driven kind of song and we hope you love it.”
The band from Denny, Falkirk, have been tearing up stages in recent months, with Eden Festival, a sold-out King Tut’s and Sound City Liverpool.
Lewis said: “We’re real excited to get another bunch of music out. It’s been a while getting everything to this point so it’s great everything is in place and moving. After our single drops we will be a gearing up for the release of our four-track EP. We really feel this is our best offering of music to date that truly represents exactly what we’re trying to do. We had the pleasure of working with Chris Zane on the mixing process and he has the tracks exactly where we want them!”
With plans for a headline tour later this year and future support slots locked in, the buzz is building.
“We want to build on our strong base of loyal followers in and around Scotland, get some more traction on streaming platforms and have a shot at getting to the USA next year! We believe Danko can take us all the way. Don’t get me wrong, as our song Weed Farmer says “I don’t want fame, it’s not why I came” – we are 100% not here about us or personal achievements.
“It’s about the band and producing a high level of music than can bring joy and escape into other people’s lives. It would be amazing to get Danko to the point where it’s our full-time job, for me anything after that is a massive bonus.”
