East Coffee Company opened on Duke Street in January 2018. They have flourished as a compact neighbourhood hub for local creatives and those who just appreciate a strong cup of coffee, pancakes in the morning or a slice of banana and walnut loaf in the afternoon.

We’ve heard tales of East’s hangover-relieving skills and called in to the cafe to meet pals for big conversations around small tables.

Today they opened at 30 Hillfoot Street. Another small Dennistoun unit that they’ve just brought back to life.
This move is in part to give their existing premises a chance to have a facelift over the next four weeks before they return.

The Hillfoot Street spot seems bigger on the inside than it does on the outside. You can notice the shiny new coffee roaster in the background. Some tables to sit at inside and a counter to order things to take away. There’s a table outside for those encouraged by sporadic signs of spring.
Beyond this month, they will be roasting coffee at Hillfoot Street and they tell us they are looking at night-time use of the space and other possibilities.
East recently launched their online shop selling their coffee here.
You’ll find all the usual cakes and brownies and buns at their temporary home. They are open for breakfast and have bagels with a selection of toppings.
Go visit them tomorrow.
