Neil Douglas, the owner of EVOO restaurant in the city centre has taken advantage of the council’s outside license scheme that aimed to fast track applications from the hospitality industry. He says: “Thanks to the scheme we have been able to open our restaurants outside space with safe social distancing.

“This has given us the confidence, and finances, to socially distance our inside space and create a safe environment for customers and staff both to work in and enjoy.”
EVOO has created 12 pods for up to 6 people internally and installed screens and hand sanitisers for the kitchen and bar areas.
Neil Douglas, who also owns Ardnamurchan with his wife Julie, says “We applied for the license on the Thursday morning and had it granted on the Friday afternoon. We still had to provide the appropriate level of risk assessment and documentation but the council are to be commended for processing it very quickly”.
EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) serves dishes inspired by the Mediterranean coast with focus on Greek and Italian cuisine and a selection of European wine, beer and cocktails. It is open from 12pm inside and out, weather permitting.
