Back by popular demand Jersey Boys returns to the King’s Theatre for a three-week run until Saturday 7 May. The Oliver Award-winning musical tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons as they rose to fame from the streets New Jersey to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
They were just four guys from Jersey, until they sang their very first note. They had a sound nobody had ever heard … and the radio just couldn’t get enough of. But while their harmonies were perfect on stage, off stage it was a very different story – a story that has made them an international sensation all over again. The show features all the hits including Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Oh What A Night, Walk Like A Man, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You and Working My Way Back To You.
The show lets Frankie Valli, Tommy DeVito, Bob Gaudio and Nick Massi tell their rollercoaster story of setbacks, line up changes, name changes and eventually international success to the sounds of their impressive back catalogue of hits including
Despite their slick, upbeat romantic ballads, the Jersey Boys had a tumultuous past featuring financial troubles, links with the Jersey mafia and family drama which nearly tore the boys apart. However along with some of the more gritty details is plenty of humour and nostalgia which leaves the audience reminiscing of days gone by.
The four lead actors have great chemistry and their vocals perfectly compliment each other alongside their synchronised choreography.
A very enjoyable show that serves as a reminder that sometimes fame comes at a cost. A story worth telling with an uplifting, nostalgic soundtrack.
