Talk of the Town: Locavore Takes Root on Renfrew Street

3rd March 2020 by Paul Trainer

Locavore are an organic grocery store that offers a vegetable box delivery, already firmly established on Victoria Road. They sell food from their own land and from local growers and ethical producers.

Now the social enterprise are preparing to open a cafe and shop on Renfrew Street, at Fleming House. The Project Cafe has closed to clear the way for the new arrival on Garnethill.

They are expected to open on Monday 9th March.

The Project Cafe had previously been in the space for six years.

Announcing the new venture, Locavore’s managing director Reuben Chesters, wrote: “It feels right! We’re pleased to be able to step in to keep something great going in the city centre.

“This is especially true as we have so many shared connections with The Project Cafe; they have been collaborators back when we took on the property together for a shared pop up many years ago, and since then have been one of our best wholesale customers, and have inspired our own cafe menu.”

Staff working at The Project Cafe will join the Locavore cafe and they intend to continue with a similar menu and layout.

Locavore Cafe and Shop is at 134 Renfrew St, G3 6ST.

Locavore is based at 349 Victoria Road, G42 7SA.
