Nonna Said pizza bar and restaurant opened at Candleriggs today. Wednesday. Currently operating from Maryhill, their Napoli style pizza with street food sides and quirky topping combinations have been a lockdown delivery hit. Now you can enjoy a lamb shawarma pizza with friends in the large open plan dining room.
Look for a variation on arancini with haggis stuffed rice balls with whisky cream or takoyaki style octopus fried rice balls, kewpie mayo, scallions and bonito flakes.
Nonna Said’s Head Chef, Ryan Burns said “We make damn tasty pizza with the finest ingredients and we’re really proud of the menu. The great thing about our pizzas is that they travel well, like your Nonna we really care about what we do, how we do it and we like to look after all the family with what we’re cooking.
“For meat lovers, the El Mexicano Loco pizza with jalapenos, crushed nachos, chorizo, avocado and chipotle beef chilli is one of my favourites with a side of vegetarian jalapeno poppers is a full-on assault on the senses. Our Scottish BBQ with Buckfast BBQ sauce, square sausage, bacon and spicy mince is set to be a sure fire hit and will go down a storm in Candleriggs, Merchant City”.
Nonna’s side game is also strong, with fully loaded choices include fries, nachos, hash browns or mac and cheese, spicy haggis and cheese, salt and chilli chicken and pepperoni pizza style options.
Summer cocktails to order include Roc-A-Fella Fizz featuring Aperol, Cocchi Americano bianco, honey, lime juice, bitters and Prosecco.
General Manager, Douglas Coupland said “Candleriggs, Merchant City is looking amazing and we’ve enlisted the talents of Glasgow based doodler and artist Conzo Throb who specialises in graffiti, street art, illustration and design. His work is fresh and fly, he’s one of the UK’s finest artists in his field and we can’t wait to showcase his work when we open”.
