Scotland’s beloved spectacle wearing duo The Proclaimers brought their latest sold out tour to a close with a final electryifying gig in the Hydro at the weekend weekend. Finnieston bars and restaurants enjoyed a busy night with fans of the band taking over Argyle Street.
Nearly 40 years after the brothers first formed, they are still continuing to thrill fans with their extensive back catalogue of hit songs loved across the world.
Indeed, it is not just Scotland that has a special place in their heart for The Proclaimers. Their tour has taken them to Iceland, Belgium, Holland, even reaching as far as New Zealand, Dubai and Australia.
The Glasgow crowd was a mix of long standing fans who remember their early days alongside younger fans who had only recently discovered their music.

This may be down in part to the success in recent years of the popular stage musical and film Sunshine on Leith which features the music of The Proclaimers.
As the six piece band took to the stage, the excitement was palpable as they opened with Angry Cyclist.
A Saturday night crowd are expecting a party and the band did not disappoint as the brothers belted out classics such as Letter From America, Over and Done With, Lets Get Married, Life and I’m On My Way.
The enthusiastic crowd belting out every lyric from start to finish. A particular highlight was Sunshine on Leith and (I’m Gonna Be) 500 miles was well-recieved with the audience leaping to their feet at the famous opening notes.
The continued success of the Proclaimers is partly down to nostalgia and partly due to how audiences relate to their songs. Tracks such as Let’s Get Married and Life With You regularly feature in wedding setlists and at other family events. Their heartwarming lyrics resonate with people from different backgrounds and the songs become part of the soundtrack to life.
As the final encore closed with Cap in Hand, Make my Heart Fly and Joyful Kilmarnock Blues, Glasgow was in no doubt that The Proclaimers are still one of the most loved bands in Scotland.
