Talk of the Town: Tron launches new small plates sharing menu

20th March 2019 by Paul Trainer

A night at the theatre, but this time, the star of the show is the food. Tron Theatre’s bar and kitchen have recently introduced a new menu with seasonal, locally sourced dishes served throughout the day and evening.

The idea is to encourage folk to pop in before a show but also to consider the Tron as a place to relax with friends in the city centre any time. You can share a procession of dishes or just grab a coffee and a slice of cake.

As a further incentive, the theatre is offering a Backstage Pass deal with 30% discount on food and drink. You can find out more here.

Patrons of the Tron, Glasgow media and arts personalities and local food writers gathered to sample the new menu last week.

Stand-out dishes on the night were Ayrshire chicken croquettes, a delicious small plate portion of beer battered haddock, slow braised beef shoulder and haggis Wellington with swede mash, pan-fried North Atlantic king prawns and Highland lamb shank.

Excellent vegetarian and vegan options include spiced red lentil potato cakes, curried cauliflower cheese or warm root veg and mixed grain salad with pearl barley and quinoa.

Save room for the cinnamon and walnut crusted carrot cake, served with candied orang and esprsso ice cream.

There’s a lunchtime sandwich and soup deal for £6 served 12-3pm.

Supporting the arts seldom tastes this good.
