Leading Scottish chef, television personality and author Tony Singh is heading for Glasgow with the opening of Tasty by Tony Singh at Alea Casino. The new restaurant will feature his signature fusion of culinary influences from Scotland, the Punjab and beyond.
Singh crafted his reputation in Leith and Edinburgh after working in prestigious kitchens at The Balmoral Hotel and Skibo Castle. In 2014 he released a well received cookbook called Tasty which brought together some of his favourite recipes.
The menu at the Alea Casino, part of Springfield Quay, will feature street-food style dishes with quirky items like chicken tikka pies and poutine (chips and cheese curds) and retro desserts like salted caramel teacakes or bubble gum marshmallows.
There will also be more lavish menu items with steaks from the grill and lobster thermidor. Tony Singh himself plans to spend time in the kitchen in Glasgow which will have James Hardy as head chef, formerly of One Devonshire Gardens and Nairns. The restaurant will be open for dinner seven nights a week.
Expect bold, colourful cooking and an urban feel to the dining room.
Alea Glasgow features gaming tables with poker, blackjack and roulette alongside Vegas-style casino games. Entry to the casino is free, with an open door policy for customers 18 years and over.
Tasty by Tony Singh opens on 29th January. Look out for the haggis pakora.
