The Glad Cafe is a neighbourhood hangout and venue in Shawlands that boasts of its place as a centre of southside creativity. Known for their excellent breakfast menu, great coffee and innovative dishes, they launched their summer menu today.
They serve up a steady supply of interesting meals, soup, snacks until 7pm each day alongside sweet treats from Wild Flours Bakery. As you would expect from a popular southside venue that showcases local musicians, there is also an enviable selection of craft beers including West, Anchor Steam and Williams Bros on draft.
Manager of The Glad Cafe Joe Smillie (yes, the manager of The Glad Cafe is called Joe Smillie) told Glasgowist they are planning a rotating roster of new dishes: “We’ll actually be chopping and changing our food options on a daily basis from now on. There will be less options than we used to do but the service will be far quicker and we’re really excited with the new flavours our chefs are experimenting with.”
Today’s best dishes included apricot Chicken served with zereshk polow (barberry rice), rehydrated barberries and flaked almonds or Iranian Veg Stew. Vegetarians could enjoy butternut squash with spicy pesto, feta and pomegranate seeds.
