Distinctive and influential, The Jesus and Mary Chain have discarded their self-destructive tendencies to carve out a new lease of life as an enigmatic touring presence, even finding time to record their first studio album since 1998 – Damage and Joy, released in 2017.
The music project of East Kilbride brothers Jim and William Reid, take to the road again in spring 2020, starting with a date at the Barrowland Ballroom on 20th March.

The Jesus and Mary Chain will play their second album, Darklands, in full. Released in 1987, it was the band’s most commercially successful record. Pitchfork describes it: “the band turns down the noise attitude and works on developing the back-to-basics pop songs that were always underneath. The singles (“Happy When it Rains”) are a joy, big hooks laced with just the right amount of vintage leather-and-shades cool.”
Unlike their previous album, Psychocandy, drum machines were used in place of drummer Bobby Gillespie, who had left to pursue a career as the frontman of Primal Scream.
Meanwhile, David Hasselhoff recently covered The Jesus And Mary Chain’s Head On, originally released as a single in 1989, on their Automatic LP.
