The Twilight Sad have announced two new UK live dates as well as sharing a new video for their track Shooting Dennis Hopper Shooting.
The band released the album, IT WON/T BE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME, in January 2019 to critical acclaim. They will perform their biggest ever UK headline show to date at The Forum in London on November 23rd. They will also play a night at Ritz in Manchester on November 24th.
Speaking of the video, band member and co-director Brendan Jay Smith offered the following: “I found an old leather bag at the back of my Grandfather’s cupboard with a collection of Super 8 film reels from the late 60s. When I thought about connecting this with the glitched layers from DLT’s album artwork it felt like we could continue the records themes of distorted and fractured memories, whilst combining old and new formats and blurring the lines between these mediums. Filming in an old abandoned swimming pool from the 1920s gave us an opportunity to reflect on past memories, drawing from my Grandfather’s original footage but projecting them in the present in an altered state, by using contemporary methods.”
Co-director Cameron Gleave added: “To add depth to the 2D animation, the processed Super 8 was then projected in Govanhill Baths in the Southside of Glasgow. The way the light interacted with elements of the architecture – casting shadows, reflecting off surfaces and revealing the texture of the building beneath – added another layer of organic distortion. When cut into the final edit this combination of animation, Super 8 and real-life footage gave a feeling of disorientation and blurred the lines of reality.”
