Playground have announced the first of its line-up for 2020 – the second edition of the festival at Rouken Glen. Underworld and Nightmares on Wax will perform on the main stage on Friday 31st July.

A festival spokesperson said, “This year’s line-up is a celebration of genre-defining UK icons. To have Underworld and Nightmares On Wax on the same bill on one night is the stuff of festival dreams and we can’t wait. It’s going to be a very special night.”
Kicking off the proceedings, electronic duo Underworld will top the bill on the Friday evening with their only Scottish appearance in 2020 with a lightshow as a backdrop.
From sound-tracking Danny Boyle’s 1996 movie Trainspotting – with their classic anthem ‘Born Slippy’ – to being the musical directors for the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony, Underworld have become internationally renowned for their visual style and dynamic live performances, which they have brought to audiences for over three decades.
They will be supported by Nightmares on Wax, who will deliver another Scottish exclusive, performing his landmark cult-classic album ‘Smokers Delight’ live and in its entirety.
Festival organisers can also announce local stalwarts, Let’s Go Way Back – one of Glasgow’s most popular club nights, will provide local support. Further line-up announcements are due to follow.
In addition to the music, there will be a Food Forest, and a family-friendly atmosphere with Mini Manoeuvres on-site Saturday and Sunday providing face-painting, soft play, dancing and games for wee ones.
The festival will also feature aerial acrobatic performers, a craft beer area and a dedicated gin garden.
Playground Festival 2020 will take place on Friday 31st July, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August in Rouken Glen Park.
