The Salisbury Bar in the Southside was a new addition in the Michelin Eating Out In Pubs Guide. We’re still waiting for the exacting critics of the Michelin Guide to bestow the first star on one our fine dining leading lights. Meanwhile casual dining spots continue to rack up the plaudits.
In many ways, this is more our Glasgow’s signature style – eating out with friends, drinks and a blether. Even our grander restaurants lack much of the stuffiness that you find in other places.
The proliferation of gastropubs serving up well constructed dishes with a creative drinks menu has enlivened many suburbs with more than a pie and a pint to be found down your local these days.
At this time of the year in The Salisbury they serve up hearty dishes with excellent Scottish ingredients, variations on traditional pub staples. The braised pork belly is a stand-out dish in a small bar with big ideas.
Braised pork belly, mulled cider cabbage, spring onion croquette, onion purée, quince jam (£15.95)
We are posting Glasgowist’s 100 Best Dishes, in no particular order, as a guide to what’s good to eat in this town right now.
