Yesterday we spotted someone walking down Buchanan Street eating a box of six Krispy Kreme doughnuts for their lunch. Hey, at least they were walking off the calories. The American chain have had a big impact since opening their first store in Glasgow. They now have locations at Buchanan Galleries, Braehead and Silverburn.
There’s only one problem. Lots of people can’t say their name right.
So, in a surprise move to avoid any confusion, Krispy Kreme will be rebranded as Krispy Cream in the UK.
Krispy Kreme — sorry, Cream — spokesperson Charlotte Roberts explained in a statement: “The company rebrand is a strategic decision made in acknowledgement that our UK customers have struggled with the pronunciation of ‘Kreme’ (said ‘cream’) since our launch into the UK. We hope that the rebrand will settle any confusion as to both the pronunciation and spelling of the name for our customers.”
The doughnuts themselves will stay the same.
