Easterhouse singer songwriter Joesef has shared a new video for Comedown. An emotional track, it has fast become a fan favourite from his critically lauded EP Does It Make You Feel Good?
“It’s about admitting defeat in a break up, while remembering the reasons you loved someone in the first place”, Joesef says.
Joesef admits the rawness of his music makes it difficult for him to get around his past, putting out difficult songs like Comedown, “helps him understand them more.”
Inspired by recurring dreams that Joesef was having in lockdown last year, the video manifests a literal interpretation of a break up “I’d been having dreams about crashing and being in an accident” he says, “so I thought it would be cool to offset the gentle nature of the tune with a visual that was a bit graphic”
In the video you see Joesef bloody and bruised in the aftermath of the crash; the camera zoomed in on his blank and tired face. It’s unsettling, but portrays viscerally the stillness of defeat that Joesef sings about. “It turned out exactly how I pictured it”, he says.
The songs on his new EP ‘Does It Make You Feel Good’ were written after Joesef got back together and consequently broke up with the subject of his debut EP.
The title track is a perfect slice of emotive soul-pop whilst closing track ‘Comedown’ is a soothing ballad that sees Joesef’s harmonies complimented with strings; the perfect summation of the record.

Speaking about the new EP, Joesef explains “This EP draws a line under a relationship that I’ve written about in Play Me Something Nice – if that EP felt more hopeful, this is the end game.
“The bitterness, and the lies that stem from fading love, to the aftermath of dealing with loss and regret, and finally taking responsibility for my own actions.
“I don’t really give much away ever, so it will always make me feel uncomfortable sharing such personal aspects of my life, but maybe if it can help me work some shit out, it could help somebody else too”
