World’s most expensive haggis ready for Burns Night

23rd January 2016 by Glasgowist

It’s Burns Night on Monday and Burns Suppers will be celebrated across the city with poetry and tributes to the immortal memory of Scotland’s great 18th century Romantic poet.

Haggis will be the centrepiece of the celebrations and Macsween reckon they have come up with the ultimate decadent variation of the traditional dish.

The world’s most expensive haggis has been created by adding some super-premium ingredients to the mix. Your own made-to-order haggis can be purchased for £4000.

So, what makes this haggis so special?

The filling is made from a combination of rare farm-reared wagyu beef from the Scottish Highlands combined with a generous portion of white summer truffle from France, a prized ingredient known as ‘diamonds of the kitchen’.

To add an opulent twist on a haggis’ signature spice, the chefs have added Indian tellicherry pepper that only grows at 2000 ft above sea level.

Topping things off in extravagant fashion, there’s even a sprinkling of edible 24 carat gold in this chieftain of the pudding race.

Classy.
