Sloans fulfills many functions for its fans. The oldest bar in Glasgow has a social scene all of its own. Outside, there are occasional market stalls, barbecues in good weather and drinks while lounging on patio furniture. You may find bands playing in the main bar and there is a weekly ceilidh upstairs in the Grand Ballroom, where they also regularly host wedding receptions.
Their EatFilm events in the Grand Ballroom screen cult classic movies and serve up snacks. Sloans makes good use of what its got.
This is also the headquarters of the Scottish Macaroni Appreciation Club, and with good reason.
The pasta fanatics host monthly meetings where they serve up four delicious versions of macaroni before members cast their vote for their favourite mac of the night. The mystery mac is often a wild twist on the traditional recipe.
A constant on the menu is Sloans own macaroni cheese, a well-fired deep bowl of creamy, cheesy pasta, which is the star of the bar’s regular food offering.
If you also crave a satisfying portion of mac ‘n’ cheese, join the pasta party at Sloans.
